Beginning Sound Sight Word Decoders

I'm always on the hunt to find new things for sight words, so last night I was bored and racking my brain. Suddenly, I remembered something I had seen at the IL Kindergarten Conference last year. The teacher would draw pictures and students had to identify the beginning sound of the picture and write it down. Once all the sounds of the pictures were identified and written, students would get to see and read the sight explanation isn't the best...

Anyway, last night I made these nifty cards. I'm going to laminate them and my Kinder-Hoppers can write on them with a dry erase marker. I can't wait to use them during centers!!

  1. I love these!!! I'm printing them off right now. Thanks for sharing.

  2. I love this idea! Thanks for sharing, I am sure my class will love solving these!

  3. You are so great for sharing all of your hard work with us! Thank you a million times over!

  4. These are fantastic! Thanks for sharing such a great activity! I plan on mounting them on cardboard and laminating. Then I am going to put them on my magnetic whiteboard where the kids can put the magnetic letter in each box. I'll probably create a recording sheet so they can reread the words that they made at home.

    Thanks again!
